How do facial recognition lockers work?

A facial recognition cabinet is a intelligent cabinet integrating facial recognition technology, typically used in public places, commercial spaces, and offices. It captures facial images using a camera and then processes and analyzes the images using facial recognition algorithms to accurately identify faces.


The working principle of a facial recognition cabinet mainly involves the following steps:

First, when someone approaches the cabinet, the built-in camera automatically activates and captures an image of the face. It's important to note that facial recognition cabinets usually require the face to be relatively clear for easier identification and comparison.


Next, the captured facial image is transmitted to the cabinet's internal facial recognition processing module. In this module, a pre-trained facial recognition algorithm processes the image to extract facial features, such as key features like the eyes, nose, and mouth.


Then, the extracted facial feature information is compared and matched against a pre-stored facial database within the cabinet system. If the system successfully matches the current face with a face in its database, the locker will automatically open, allowing the person to perform the corresponding operation or enter the designated area. Conversely, if no match is found, the locker will remain locked to prevent unauthorized entry. In some applications, the system can also trigger alarms or alerts when abnormal or unknown facial information is detected, allowing for timely security measures.


It's important to note that the facial recognition locker's recognition process is real-time, taking only a few seconds to complete and boasting high accuracy. Furthermore, by employing facial recognition technology, it eliminates reliance on traditional ID cards or keys, enhancing both security and convenience.
